Understanding Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC)
Rashtriya Indian Military College in Dehradun is a prestigious Indian institution that offers education and training programs to prepare its students for service in the National Defense Academy or Indian Armed Forces. To enter 8th grade at this institution, an entrance exam known as the RIMC Exam must first be passed successfully.

Eligibility for the RIMC
Qualifications: Candidates must currently be in Class VII at an accredited institution/school or have completed Class 7 from a recognized school. They should not be born earlier than 02nd January 2011 and not later than 1st July 2012.
Admission Procedure
Approximately 25 cadets are admitted every six months. Candidates should not be less than 11½ years of age or must not have attained the age of 13 on 01 (Jan) or 01 (July) of the term they join. Admissions are made to Class VIII only. The candidate must be studying in Class VII or have passed Class VII from a recognized school at the time of joining. Application forms are to be submitted to the respective State Governments. Candidates are selected based on their performance in an All India Entrance Examination held twice a year comprising a written examination of question papers in English (125 Marks), Mathematics (200 Marks), and General Knowledge (75 Marks). Successful candidates are called for a Viva-Voce test (50 marks).

The minimum pass mark is 50% in each subject and interview.
Age Restrictions:
Candidates must be 11½ to 13 years old to be considered for this post.
Vacancies
Generally, one vacancy per State is allotted. However, some States with larger populations have up to two vacancies allotted.
Entrance Examination
The Examination comprises of:
- Written Examination: Three subjects—English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge
- Viva Voce: Oral exam assessing intelligence, personality, and confidence
- Medical Examination: Conducted for candidates who pass the interview

The prospectus-cum-application form can be obtained from the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The demand draft for the form should be made in favor of “THE COMMANDANT RIMC DEHRADUN.”
